Global Address Lookup & Validation API
Look up and validate an address in the format its own country uses, and store it as structured data rather than free text.
What it checks
Global Address Validation covers addresses beyond the UK. Address formats differ substantially between countries, so free-text capture produces data that is inconsistent, hard to match on and often undeliverable. This check resolves an address search to a specific address and returns it as structured fields in the format the country actually uses, so what you store is consistent regardless of where the customer is. Country coverage varies, so confirm the countries you need before you build against it.
What it returns
- Address search results , candidate addresses matching the search terms supplied
- Structured address , the selected address split into its component fields, in the format used by its country

When to use it
- On international checkout, sign-up and delivery forms, where free-text address entry produces data you cannot rely on.
- When you operate in more than one country and need addresses stored in one consistent, structured shape.
- Before international fulfilment or shipping, to avoid paying to send to an address that was never usable.
- When an address is used as a matching key across systems and inconsistent formatting is causing false mismatches.
When not to use it
- As proof that a person lives at the address. Resolving an address says nothing about who is there.
- As a fraud check on its own. A valid address is easy to supply; weigh it alongside IP Fraud Detection, Breach Exposure and phone signals.
- For UK addresses where you want Royal Mail PAF specifically. Use UK PAF Address Validation, or UK Postcode Verification for the on-form address chooser.
- In a country we do not currently cover. Ask us for the supported-country list before you build against it.
How to read the result
Read the result as an answer about the address, not about the person who gave it to you.
- Address resolved
- Store the structured fields returned rather than re-formatting the original free text, so every downstream system gets the same shape.
- No result
- The search did not resolve to a known address. Prompt for a correction and keep a manual-entry fallback so you never block the form.

- UK Postcode Verification Let customers find their address in two taps, turn a postcode into a clean, structured address.
- IP Geolocation Check they are where they say they are, resolve an IP and match it to the address they gave you.
