What is global address lookup?

Global address lookup is an API that lets customers search for their address in your form, choose it from a list of suggestions and fill the address fields from their choice. It makes forms quicker to complete and gives you structured address data from the start.

Can I use it for address autocomplete?

Yes. Send what the customer types to the search step, show the suggestions as they type, then retrieve the full address once they pick one. Your developers connect the API to your own form, so the experience matches the rest of your site.

Can customers search by postcode?

Yes. The search accepts an address or a postcode, and a postcode mode limits suggestions to postcodes.

Can I restrict results to particular countries?

Yes. Pass up to 15 country codes to limit suggestions to the countries you serve. You can also set a preferred language for the results.

Is address lookup available in bulk?

No. Global address lookup is an API service for forms. To clean or check an address file you already hold, use Global address validation, which runs through the API or bulk upload.

How is lookup different from address validation?

Lookup helps a customer find and select an address while filling in a form. Global address validation checks a complete address and returns cleansed fields with validation information. Use lookup at capture and validation before you save or use the address.
